Inverness Volunteer Fire Department

Within the boundaries of the Inverness Public Utility District, the objectives of the Inverness Volunteer Fire Department consist of the following:

1.      To protect life

2.      To protect property, public and private.

3.      To prevent, suppress, and determine the origin of fires.

4.      Respond to medical, public safety, rescue, and disaster situations as well as mutual aid assistance to out-of-district agencies when requested.

 
The following are the approximate percentages of each type of call we receive:

34% = Medical

24% = Public Service (mostly downed trees and power lines)

21% = Cancelled (includes all calls in which we are cancelled in route, or before responding)

7% = Motor vehicle accidents

5% = Unable to locate (includes all categories)

2% = Fire alarm (with no fire found)

1% = Water rescue

1% = Smoke check

.5% = Vehicle fire

.5% = Structure fire

.5% = Wildland fire

.5% = Miscellaneous fire

.5% = Rescues

2.5% = Other

 

On average, IVFD gets 150 calls a year:

·         8% are in the morning.

·         54% are in the daytime.

·         22.7% are in the evening.

·         15.3% are at night.
